Activity 4

Q Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Watch The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. This movie is an extended analogy, with many points that illustrate and parallel the major message of the Bible. In the first paragraph, carefully describe two parallels between the message of the Bible and the movie, with specific references to the Bible (use citations). In a pure literary sense, this story is often considered to be one of the highest forms of analogy ever written. In the second paragraph, describe one thing that you saw or understand in a new way because of the way the movie presented things. In the third paragraph, discuss how The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe addresses the core message of the Bible, particularly the love of God for His world and the sacrifice made by Jesus. Why is this important?

I feel that the first parallel would be that the character named Aslan in the movie had given up its life in order to save the character named Edmund from the pangs of death. This shows sheer selflessness on the part of Aslan as well as portrays and depicts the highest form of love and affection which is possible to be shown towards God’s living creation of living creatures. That is why the Bible says “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13, NIV). Also, the Bibles states “And walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God” (Ephesians 5:2, NIV).
